INGREDIENTS

  • Vodka (any basic, inexpensive option works)
  • Essential oils (optional)

Alternative base:

  • Witch hazel (alcohol-free option)

METHOD

  1. Add vodka (or witch hazel) to a clean spray bottle.
  2. Add essential oils - single oils or blends both work.
  3. Close the bottle and shake well to combine.

What this spray is 

This is an alcohol-based scent spray. It:

  • Carries essential oils evenly
  • Evaporates quickly without residue
  • Works across air, fabric and clothing
  • Uses minimal ingredients

It is not:

  • A perfume replacement
  • A room deodoriser that neutralises odours chemically
  • A skin treatment

Its role is light, temporary scent — not long-lasting fragrance.


Why alcohol works as the base

Alcohol is used because it:

  • Disperses essential oils evenly
  • Evaporates fast, leaving scent behind
  • Helps prevent oils floating on the surface
  • Doesn’t need additional emulsifiers

Vodka works well because it’s readily available and already mostly water.

Witch hazel can also be used as a non-alcohol alternative, though it behaves slightly differently and may not disperse scent as strongly.


How to use it

  • Air freshener: Spray lightly into the air as needed, avoid over spraying, a little goes a long way.
  • Linen spray: Lightly mist bedding, cushions or curtains from a distance. 
  • Light body spray: Spray onto clothing rather than directly onto skin. This keeps the scent light and avoids irritation.

  • Shake before each use - oils naturally separate
  • Avoid spraying directly onto delicate fabrics
  • Keep essential oil levels low
  • Store away from heat and flames

This is a scent spray, not a preservative-free cosmetic product.

NOTE: Vodka does not need diluting as it’s already more than 60% water-based.
