About the Laundry Powder
About the Laundry Powder
I made this laundry powder to help those who do not want to DIY to still enjoy the handmade experience and the benefits that come with using more natural solutions.
The ingredients used actually clean your clothes - and are found in famous strip wash recipes. They break down dirt, get rid of smells, and help lift stains. There are no artificial fragrances, unnecessary fillers, or optical brighteners that just make things look clean without doing the job.
Because there are no bleach activators, it works best in a warm or hot wash. It’s safe for front and top loaders, septic systems, and this jar will last around 25 loads.
How to use it:
Use 1–2 tablespoons for a regular load. For bigger or extra-dirty loads, add a dash of Sodium Percarbonate for extra oomph.
Ingredients:
Washing Soda, Sodium Percarbonate, Borax, Bicarb Soda, Organic Coconut Soap Flakes.
About the Stain Remover
About the Stain Remover
Let me tell you - this stuff is the real deal. It's often called the “good s**t” for a reason. It's the main ingredient in soakers like Napisan, but without the plastic tub, fillers, or mystery extras. Just pure Sodium Percarbonate - also known as natural Oxybleach.
It brightens whites, helps lift stains, and brings colour back to life without wrecking your fabrics. And it’s not just for laundry - I use it to make dishwasher powder, clean tile grout, and even freshen up bins and chopping boards. Once you know what it can do, you’ll wonder how you managed without it.
It needs hot water to activate properly, so skip the cold wash with this one if you actually want results.
How I use it:
Start small, 1–2 tablespoons in a tub for soaking clothes or add it to your laundry or cleaning mix. You’ll soon get a feel for how much you need.
What’s in it:
Just one ingredient: Sodium Percarbonate. That’s it.
About the Fabric Softener
About the Fabric Softener
Commercial fabric softeners are full of slimy chemicals and heavy fake scents. This is the smarter swap.
Traditionally, vinegar gets all the green cleaning glory including using a cup as fabric softener, which works - but using Citric Acid is even better.
It works like vinegar, by neutralising any leftover soap that can make clothes feel stiff. The winner is that you only need a teaspoon or two to do the same job as a cup of vinegar!
You can even customise the scent with a few drops of essential oil. It’s light, fresh, and does the job without coating your clothes in residue.
And it’s not just for the laundry - citric acid comes in handy all over the house.
How I use it:
Add 1 teaspoon for a small load (about 10g), and a little more for bigger loads.
What’s in it:
100% Citric Acid. Simple.
About the Glassware
About the Glassware
The products will be packaged in charming vintage style Apothecary Jars.
Our jars are made from recycled glass and are a decorated amber keeping it affordable. Due to their recycled nature, there may be slight imperfections that only add to their character. Tip: The inside of the lid measures approx. one tablespoon
Volume: 750ml
Colour: Decorated amber glass
Diameter: 9.6cm
Height: 17.5cm
Everything will come labelled with simple waterproof vinyl labels - which I designed and print - so you get an inexpensive, no-fuss way to keep your laundry organised. I use a thermal label printer, which means there’s no ink (uses heat to create the print)
How to Look After Them
- They’re waterproof, so splashes and spills won’t be a problem.
- But they’re not scrub-proof, so avoid using harsh abrasives or scrubbing too hard.
- Not dishwasher safe - hand wash bottles and jars carefully to keep the label intact.

Can I use in cold water wash?
You can but it’s not my go-to recommendation. This powder works best with heat, especially to fully dissolve the ingredients and activate the stain-fighting power of sodium percarbonate.
That said, if you’re using a top loader, there’s a little workaround: fill your machine with cold water first, then dissolve the powder in a big jug with boiling water and quickly pour it in. Just be careful - it’ll bubble and grow (think bicarb and vinegar vibes), so use a large jug and move fast! It’s a bit of a hack, but it can get you there when a cold wash is a must.
What temperature should I use?
I always recommend warm to hot water for best results - heat is a key player in the formula. It naturally sanitises and activates the oxygen power in the sodium percarbonate (that’s the stuff that makes whites whiter and stains vanish).
Unlike commercial products, I don’t use synthetic bleach activators, so temperature really does the heavy lifting here. Want to geek out a bit more? I’ve written a blog that explains why reducing heat usually means you need to crank up the chemicals instead. Read the formula you need to know
Can I use this for handwashing delicates and wool?
I wouldn’t recommend it. Even though this laundry powder is handmade, it’s still a powerhouse—and a bit too alkaline for delicate fibres like wool, silk, or anything that needs a gentler touch. These materials prefer a lower pH and a milder approach.
But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Head over to my DIY recipe hub for a delicate-safe recipe that’s perfect for handwashing wool and other finicky fabrics.
Is this suitable for sensitive skin?
I can never suggest what is the best thing for your body, however with minimal ingredients and fragrance-free formula my customers have reported that it works great for their sensitivities.
Is this septic & greywater safe?
Its fine for septic tanks in terms of general cleaning, however do not use these products directly in the septic tank!
I would be wary using on greywater as these are alkali ingredients and I can't say with certainty that it wont harm your plants or greenery.
How do I refill?
Easy! All the 3 products are available in the DIY ingredients collection.
You can choose to grab all the ingredients and mix your own laundry powder or grab a pre-mixed option, which I do for you. This means you can still enjoy the handmade feel without doing it yourself.
The other two ingredients you need to refill are Percarbonate for the soak and Citric Acid for the rinse aid.
The No-Nasties Laundry Kit
Smell fresh, not fake. This set tackles stains, softens fabrics, and skips the synthetic stuff – because clean clothes shouldn’t come with a chemical cocktail.
Fantastic customer service and products.
Very impressed with this set. The laundry powder is lovely. Does a great job, even in cold water. The coconut soap dissolves easily. Ive spent years grating velvet soap for my homemade washing powder that didn't dissolve very well so I'm very impressed with the coconut soap flakes. The fabric softer is really nice too. Leaves your laundry smelling really fresh. Very happy with both.
I recently purchased these to go with the start pack for myself and for a girlfriend. They are a fabulous size and so nice to place on the shelf! I cannot wait to tell more people about these beautiful products!
Analisa is an absolute pleasure to deal with, from her personalised and thoughtful service, through to the care in which items are packed and sent.
I would highly recommend not only this gorgeous set but other products from Under Your Sink. Thanks!!
