The Kit Breakdown

Fifteen pieces, each with a job to do.

Dish Powder, 750g apothecary jar. Pre-mixed and ready to go. Covers about 30 dishwasher loads. And unlike a tablet, it also soaks pots, pans and burnt-on messes in the sink.

Laundry Wash, 750g apothecary jar. Pre-mixed, fragrance free, about 25 loads. Add oils when you want scent, run it plain when you don't.

Laundry Soak, 750g apothecary jar. Pure sodium percarbonate, about 35 tablespoons. Whitens, brightens and lifts stains, and supercharges your cleaning paste. This is the jar that retires the chlorine bleach.

Laundry Rinse, 750g apothecary jar. Pure citric acid, about 50 loads. It moonlights as your glass and shower spray, dishwasher rinse aid and toilet gel base. One teaspoon per 500ml of water.

Cleaning Paste Mix, 300g in a 1L heatproof jar. Boiling water straight into the jar, stir, done. A thick scrubbing paste for grout, ovens and the jobs that push back.

Liquid Castile Soap, 1L. Your dish liquid, foaming hand wash and multi purpose sprays. At around 25ml a bottle, one litre makes dozens of refills. Handmade in Australia by a social enterprise.

Vegetable Glycerine, 250ml, and Xanthan Gum, 80g. The thickeners. A little of each turns sprays into gels that cling to toilets and showers instead of running off.

Lemon and Eucalyptus Blue Gum Essential Oils, 15ml each. Fragrance on your terms. A few drops when you want it, nothing when you don't.

The amber glassware. A 250ml foaming soap pump for hand wash, a 500ml dish liquid dispenser with stainless steel pump, and three 500ml trigger sprays labelled for kitchen, bathroom, and glass and window. Bought once, refilled for years.

Plus two scoops, one for dishes and one for laundry, and the digital guide with every recipe.

Every refill arrives in a home compostable Earth Bag.

LAUNDRY

All the beauty of handmade and natural, without any of the DIY. The wash cleans with quality ingredients that remove odours and stains rather than covering them up. The soak is pure percarbonate, the working ingredient in brand-name laundry soakers without the fillers, and it's concentrated, so a little does a lot. The rinse clears the minerals and hard water your machine leaves behind.

KITCHEN

The dish powder does what a tablet never could: dishwasher, sink soaks, pots and burnt-on pans, all from one jar. Borrow a teaspoon from your laundry rinse and you've made your rinse aid too. Your castile becomes the dish liquid. Everything that touches your plates is something you can name.

BATHROOM

Showers, glass and toilets are acid jobs, and your laundry rinse jar moonlights here: a teaspoon in water for the glass and shower spray, thickened into a gel that clings to the toilet. Mineral build-up and soap scum dissolved, and the smallest room in the house stays easy to breathe in.

EVERYWHERE ELSE

Foaming hand wash and bench sprays from the castile, and a scrubbing paste for grout, ovens and the jobs that push back, supercharged with a scoop from your soak jar. One box, whole home, and every refill arrives in a home compostable Earth Bag.

Questions, answered straight

Does it really clean as well as the big brands?

It cleans with the same working ingredients the big brands build their products around, supplied pure and without the fillers. Percarbonate is what does the lifting in brand-name laundry soakers. Citric acid is what descales and shines. The difference is you get them at full strength, with the science of every job explained, so you know why it works, and not just that it does.

Am I signing up for a DIY project?

The opposite. The wash and dish powders arrive ready to scoop, the soak and rinse are ready as they are, and the rest is water. First setup takes about fifteen minutes, and most of that is admiring the bottles. The recipes are there when you feel like playing, never because you have to.

Is $185 a lot for cleaning products?

It's $248 of product for $185 to start, but comparing jar to product sells it short, because nothing in here does just one job. The dish powder that runs your dishwasher also soaks the pots, scrubs the patio and washes the outdoor furniture. The castile behind your dish liquid also mops the floors and fills the hand wash. The citric acid in your laundry rinse makes a glass spray for pennies a bottle. Honestly, the exact saving is hard to itemise, and that's rather the point: every jar keeps quietly replacing things you'd otherwise buy. The fair comparison isn't a packet of tablets, it's your whole cleaning aisle basket. And after this first box, the glassware stays and only refills leave your wallet.

I react to fragrances. Will this work for me?

Every product in the kit is fragrance free as supplied. The two essential oils arrive sealed, and they only go where you put them, at the strength you choose, or nowhere at all. You're in complete control of what your home smells like, including nothing.

What about kids and pets?

The ingredients are eco-friendly but still deserves respect: lids on, jars up high, and label anything you decant. Keep away from little people and pets (like all cleaning products!). If anything is ever swallowed, the Poisons Information Centre is 13 11 26, Australia wide, 24 hours. Everything is biodegradable and septic safe once it's down the drain.

Is there anything it shouldn't touch?

An honest yes. Keep the citric acid spray off natural stone like marble and travertine, since acids etch them, and don't soak wool or silk in the percarbonate. Your digital guide lists the full do-and-don't for every recipe, because knowing the limits is part of knowing the product.

Can it disinfect

That's the one job it doesn't do, and we'd rather tell you than fudge it. A small bottle of hydrogen peroxide from your chemist covers it, and your guide shows you exactly how. If a green cleaning kit claims it does absolutely everything, that's worth a raised eyebrow.

How do refills work when something runs out?

Order just what's empty. It arrives in a home compostable Earth Bag, you tip it into the same jar, and the bag goes in your compost. The glassware is a one-time purchase you'll refill for years.
