Homemade Toilet Gel

Homemade Toilet Gel

Keeping your toilet clean is essential for maintaining good hygiene in your bathroom. However, store-bought toilet cleaners can be harsh and filled with chemicals that can harm both you and the environment.

Fortunately, there are natural alternatives that you can use to clean your toilet, such as this simple toilet cleaner gel recipe that uses natural ingredients.

OPTION 1: GEL USING CITRIC ACID

 Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon Citric Acid
  • 1 tablespoon Glycerine
  • 1/4 teaspoon Xanthan Gun
  • 500ml water
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oils (optional)

Tools:

Container to pour

Instructions:

  1. In the container, first make the thickening solution combining the glycerine and Xanthan Gum l until it is free of lumps & forms a gel.
  2. Then add the water, followed by the citric acid and essential oils if you are using them.
  3. Whisk until it is fully combined and the mixture is the consistency you desire.

OPTION 2: GEL USING VINEGAR

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Glycerine
  • 1/4 teaspoon Xanthan Gun
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oils (optional)

Tools:

Container to pour

Instructions:

  1. In the container, first make the thickening solution combining the glycerine and Xanthan Gum l until it is free of lumps & forms a gel.
  2. Then add the vinegar and essential oils if you are using them.
  3. Whisk until it is fully combined and the mixture is the consistency you desire.

HOW TO USE IT

  1. Squeeze or spread the DIY Toilet Cleaner Gel around the rim and sides of your toilet bowl. The thick gel adheres well and clings to surfaces for effective cleaning.
  2. Let the gel sit for a while – usually around 15 to 30 minutes. This allows the natural ingredients to break down stains, dirt, and odours.
  3. Grab your toilet brush and give the bowl a thorough scrub. The gel will help loosen and lift away grime, leaving your toilet sparkling clean.
  4. Flush the toilet to rinse away the gel and reveal the gleaming results. Admire your efforts – you've just transformed your throne!

This solution is not only super cheap and super effective, but also safe! Typical toilet cleaners contain chlorine bleach which can be very toxic and not good for waterways.

This is a truly effective cleaner. I won’t be going back to commercial cleaners after trying this. It only costs cents to make and does a fabulous job cleaning the toilet. Also does a great job on soap scum in the shower and bath tub.
