Why you need this Cleaning Paste in your life

Why you need this Cleaning Paste in your life

When the full moon is out and the deep cleaning fairies whisper, "It's time to clean" that is when our magical cleaning paste comes into action.

This cleaning paste is eco-friendly, septic-safe, vegan, and a highly effective multipurpose cleaner very similar to gumption or Jif.

It is an old yet powerful recipe, also known as "Laundry Butter" because of the buttercream texture. However this paste is not limited to the laundry—its applications are endless!

Prepare to have your mind blown with all the incredible uses of this versatile cleaning paste.

But before we dive in, remember: there are no strict rules for using this paste except these two:

  1. Avoid aluminium and painted/varnished surfaces
  2. Always do a small test patch on new surfaces

Now let's discover some of the many uses for this magical cleaning paste.

1. Deep Clean the Loo

Cleaning the throne can be quite the task, but our paste makes it a breeze. For mild water stains, use an acidic cleaner. For a deeper clean, try this method:

  • Scoop 1-2 tablespoons of the paste into the toilet water.
  • Add a heaped teaspoon of Sodium Percarbonate for extra bleaching power.
  • Pour in about 1 litre of boiling water, let it sit and bubble.
  • Scrub with a toilet brush and flush.

    2. Clean Tiles & Grout

Gone are the days of suffocating bleach fumes. Now, your shower will smell like refreshing eucalyptus. Here's a method I love:

    • Mix 2-3 tablespoons of paste, 1 tablespoon of percarbonate, and 10-15 drops of eucalyptus oil in a bucket.
    • Add hot water and let it bubble.
    • Scrub your tiles, grout, glass, and floor with a brush.
    • Rinse and dry thoroughly to prevent water spots.

    3. Clean Baths, Sinks, and Ceramics

All you need is some paste, a scrub brush, and a few minutes:

    • Plug the bath or sink, add a tablespoon or two of paste, and hot water.
    • Swish it around, scrub, rinse with cold water, and dry.

    4. Clean Dishes, Pots & Pans

Keep a jar of paste under the kitchen sink:

    • For greasy pots and pans, add a tablespoon of paste and hot water, then let it sit.
    • Use it instead of dish liquid or as an emergency dishwasher powder.

    5. All Over the Kitchen

    After a messy cooking session:

    • Use paste on a scrub pad to clean the splashback, stovetop, and benchtop.
    • It’s also great for ovens, rangehoods, bins, cupboards, appliances, and sinks.

    6. Stain Remover & Whitener

Effective on tannin stains but be cautious with coloured fabrics:

    • Apply a small amount of dampened paste to stains before washing.
    • For heavy-duty stains, soak in percarbonate before washing.

    7. Laundry Wash

This paste is neither powder nor liquid, but it’s perfect for laundry:

    • Add 1-2 tablespoons to the detergent compartment or directly into the wash.
    • For tougher stains, add some percarbonate.

    8. Outdoor Furniture, Patio & Pavers

    For outdoor projects:

    • Dilute paste in a bucket of warm water and scrub furniture.
    • For patios and pavers, pour the solution and scrub with a broom, then rinse.

    9. Degrease the BBQ

Get your BBQ ready for summer:

    • Move the BBQ to a safe area or lay down newspaper.
    • Smear paste on the grill, pour hot water, and scrub.
    • Rinse, dry, and get grilling!
