What is liquid Castile Soap?

This is a pure soap that is made from olive oil, water & lye (caustic soda). Depending on the type of lye you can make liquid or hard soap.

Is this OK for delicate fabrics like wool & silk?

Absolutely! This is the mildest form of soap & often uses on the skin of babies.

Can I use this in a cold wash?

You can but you may need to add a bit more to compensate for the lack of heat. Warm to hot water is recommended.

Do I need a fabric softener?

When it comes to using DIY laundry powders you really should also use an acidic solution like vinegar or citric acid as fabric softener. This will make sure any left over soap scum is removed & clothes won't come out stiff.

Is this safe for septic tanks?

The ingredients are mild, safe & biodegradable which should not affect the bacteria in septic tanks like harsh chemicals can.
