Laundry Washing Powder

 Looking for a natural and effective laundry powder that won't harm your skin or the environment? Look no further than this easy recipe for homemade laundry washing powder, using natural, safe and effective ingredients that will clean your clothes just like you need it to.

This recipe can also be used around the home for many other cleaning jobs too! 


  • 1/2 cup Percarbonate (approx. 125g)
  • 1 full cup Washing Soda (approx. 300g)
  • 1/2 cup Borax (approx. 110g)
  • 1/2 cup Bicarb (approx. 125g)
  • 3/4 cup Coconut Soap (approx. 90g)



Around 750g



  • Mixing bowl
  • Airtight container for storage



  1. Mix all the powder ingredients in large bowl until well combined, taking care not the breathe in the raised dust
  2. Pour and store the laundry powder in an airtight container.


How to Use: 

  • For small loads, use 1 tablespoon (20-30g) of the laundry powder
  • For large loads, use 2 tablespoons (40-60g) of the laundry powder

Simply add to the detergent department of uour machine and follow your machine instructions.



  • You can add a few drops of essential oil to the laundry powder for a natural fragrance boost.
  • If you have hard water, you may need to increase the amount of washing soda and borax in the recipe to get the same cleaning power.

I have been making this washing powder for over a year now using your ingredients – I will never go back to store bought! I add my empty essential oil bottles into my tub of powder for extra smell and soak with the Crystal Clear for stains – my clothes are the cleanest and nicest they have ever been!
